Haven't posted for a while so forgive me if this has been mentioned before..... Back in November I was informed by GP surgery that Apidra was out of production until March 2012 so they were changing me to Novorapid. Since changing to Novorapid my BG's have been all over the place. Unexplained highs/lows for one thing but it also seems to take more Novorapid per 10g carb than my Apidra did so that my mealtime / correction doses aren't effective. Anybody else had the same experience? Have emailed my DN but she said that they should be like for like...?
And then today I had two hypos within 40 mins. First reading was 3.1 had 4 dextrose tabs, went up to 11.8 then within 30 mins I was back down to 3.5 again. I had my usual breakie and insulin dose as I do everyday. I'm confused!

Any advice or wisdom greatfully received!!

Hi Becky.

Novorapid has a longer lead-in time than apidra and probably continues a bit longer too.

So you'd need to inject it a bit earlier and maybe include more low GI food with your meal.

Did they offer the option of apidra via normal syringe. Apparently it's still available in vial form.

Did you follow up your 4 dextrose tablets with some slow acting carbs?
