Here is a brilliant interview with Prof. Lucia Aronica about the above subjects (and more).
Of note for me were:
1. Around the 30min mark, that cultural pressures/marketing make women less likely to adhere to a Low Carb way of eating than men. Hints: the Low Fat Yogurts come in pink packaging, it is less socially acceptable for a woman to order a ribeye steak than a salad (with dressing on the side) etc.
2. Around 45 min mark, how difficult it is to design a valid dietary study even for a researcher both aware of their own biases and trying not to weight the study in their favour.

Interesting. However all of the people I know who follow low carb or keto ways of eating are women.
