Somebody I know took up this diet for their arthritis. Thay are also classified at high risk of developing Type II diabetes.

It is a hard diet to follow but in the first week they lost 4.5 lbs. This dropped to 1 the following week but averaged 2.5 lbs per week over the fiirst two months. I think it could be useful for those on diet alone but would advise discussing it with your GP/DSN if you are on medication. My friend has started to introduce some items in moderation to try and identify arthritis triggers - and because the are tempted by them!
