I would like some advise please.
Woke up late and wasn’t concentrating on what I was doing, done my insulin and have stupidly given myself 16 units of basal instead of my usual 10 . It wasn’t that I had got the pens mixed up as I’d just done my brekkie bolus which is less. It’s was just pure stupidity.
Kicks required here (X) Please.

I know I need to test more (thank god for my Libre), will run myself higher than usual and let dad know what I’ve done. Is their anything else I need to to do/ be aware of.
Thanks in advance.

An easy enough mistake to make. Personally I think you've got a great plan to deal with it but unfortunately you may also need to test a lot during the night. I hope you have a smooth day.

Thank you. . I thought I would have to, oh well I’m retired and a chronic insomniac, so it will give me something else to do in the wee small hours 😱🙂😱

Argh! We've all done something similar! You seem to have all bases covered.

Agree with the others. I'd probably have a substantial snack before bed - something fairly slow release, like cheese or peanut butter on toast 🙂 Hope you don't have any problems {{{HUGS}}}

Thank you @Robin and @Northerner thanks for the hugs. A slice of toast and peanut butter b3gore bed sounds right up my street :D

Update.
Well I must admit so far it’s been a very err ........ interesting day, not one I wish to repeat though.
I wasfine and in the fives Till lunchtime when I was confronted with 4.2 and a straight down arrow. Had a big swig of apple juice and about 400 g of watermelon , followed soon after by a very necessary 3 gluco tabs and got up to the dizzy heights of 4.5
I’ve needed to nibble on things like gingernuts so much for trying to run higher lol.
Come dinnertime I was a nice comfy 6.9 🙂. Had a really high carb chicken curry and rice ready meal around 70 carbs , to be on the safe side I decided to inject for 35 just be before I popped it in the microwave, 10 mins later when I sat down to eat I tested to enter the carbs into my Libre I was already down to 5.2 with a slanted down arrow so I had an appetiser of 2 gluco tabs . 2 hrs later. I was 4.6.
It’s looking very much like being an interesting night too.

I really don’t know how I would have managed without the Libre , so far today I’ve tested 21 times. No make that 22 now and it’s back to the slanted down 4.2 .
I think my Insulatard has got itself mixed up and thinks it’s a rapid insulin lol.

Thanks HOBIE

Well it’s a brand new day and come Basal time I’ll be darned careful I can tell you, I certainly don’t want another day like yesterday.

That sounds like quite a battle through the day Lin, well done for managing it well, and thank goodness for the Libre! 🙂 Doesn't it feel strange - most of the time you'd feel resentful at not being able to indulge freely, but when you've taken too much insulin and you're compelled to eat things you feel resentful about that 🙄 Also, when I've done this in the past, it seems you have to eat extra things out of all proportion to the extra insulin dose :confused:

Don't do it again! 😱 😉 {{{HUGS}}}
