Well yet again before breakfast i was 12.5 not happy with this so i have now taken 2 units of novorapid for every 10gr carbs instead of 1 unit, the consultant did suggest that 1 wasnt enough but wanted me to wait to see dsn next week before changing it,but im fed up with these highs and having to wait to try and sort it out, will keep you updated on how this go's.

Hi

Yes, think I would have done same (although with K being child wouldn't have doubled all in one go😱) If we waited to see DSN to make every change I don't think K would have the OK HbA1c she does. We have changed Levemir twice and Nova ratios once since last visit to clinic (21stDec) all without asking!

Hope it works for you, but if it doesn't at least you tried, try something else instead🙂

Sometimes it is all about trial and error. Keep a close eye on yourself as you have doubled what you normally take. Just incase 🙂 a sneaky little hypo appears x

I personally would be doing the same thing. Just make sure you test in a couple of hours to make sure you are not dropping too low. You might want to test a bit more actually, so that you can record the effect since this is the first time you have done it, and then you will have some information to discuss with your DSN. Have you been taught about correction doses? I would be including extra units in order to 'correct' my levels down to around 6 from the 12.5 (for me that would be a couple of units) befre then calculating the dose needed for the food I was about to eat. If you haven't been taught about corrections, ask your DSN when you see her 🙂 Hope it all goes OK! 🙂
