6 weeks ago I was given the HbA1c test, the result was 49. (It took 2 weeks to then get my results)
GP said I needed to be tested again after 6 weeks before they would decide on diagnosis.
I was in total shock but joined this forum and with all the help and advice on here, 4 weeks ago I switched to a low carb diet. I also had cholesterol level of 7 and Bmi 26.8.
Just had the repeat blood test - HbA1c is now 44 I have been told I am in the pre diabetes category and will have repeat bloods in 6 months. Even though I now eat more fats, my cholesterol is now 6.8. I have also lost weight and Bmi is now 25.3 (almost healthy Bmi)
Really happy with the results in just 4 weeks of change. Thanks everyone for all the posts on the forum, it’s really helped me understand diabetes and my own health, you are all amazing people and I have drawn on all the inspiration here. I know the changes need to be lifelong as I will always have the risk and I need to reduce levels further but I have a far better understanding of how to do this now x
