Probably because Safeway has American roots, but Morrisons most definitely doesn't. When I was working in East Lancashire, which has high immigrant population, all the supermarkets were competing with the Asian shops, so you could buy lire cans of ghee, I kilo bags of chilli powder and other spices, plus Hallal meat in Tesco and Asda. It was ace.🙂 They didn't do the Asian sweets, so you did have to go to specialist Asian stores for those incredibly sweet goodies.

In Oban, over the water, there is a double fronted Polish shop, but Polish food is distinctly carb dense. Good food, though.

Where you live is gorgeous. I believe that if my life was different I would be living on one of the islands, I love islands. I'm a tad scared now because I just watched Hospital and the doctor talking about diabetes, risk of stroke, heart failure etc. Oddly enough although I know this, it's given me the heeby geevies. My brother who is ten years younger than me, has had diabetes for 15 years so far with no ill effects on other organs. I recall a late uncle was also diabetic, so I guess for me it was hard to avoid all these years when I thought I would be fine. I find it all very scary. There are some nights when I just wish I could have something I'm not supposed to have I think that's human nature LoL

Yes Safeway were all over the States, in fact I think they still are. Several times in the past I would shop at M & S food hall in Newton Mearns - I swear they sold food there they did not stock in other stores, in fact I'm sure they did because of the larger Jewish community, but I could be wrong, anyway food from M & S is terrific.

Didnt know where post on forum so thought might as well continue here.

Went back see doc after blood tests, was looking forward get more info from him, as he was 1st doc to mention what low sugar attacks were Well ( crossing arms and huffing )

I told him id started to monitor my bloods , and he immediatly said home tests were waste of time, only needed if type 1.

He has referred me to diet program, and said ok to keep testing if it helps me watch what I eat. So will see what they say. But as Id just watch panorama documentry, I was like well if you dont give us tools to help ourselves. We wont get any better grrrr.

Anyway just had 2 blocks 65% chocolate from Aldi ( couldnt see any higher %), for friday treat. Thanks to this forum.

Oh also asked what my Hba1c was and its 67 and Doc wants it down to 58 . Mysugr app estimates it at 66 who needs docs telling me not tested

I find with Aldi, the chocolate is all mixed up & you need to sort through them to find what you want. The higher cocoa ones do seem to sell quickly though.
