Excuse grammar and typos, typing on tablet.

So diagnosed 8 years ago, been taking all my tablets and going for regular check up occasional having prescription increased. Thought I was doing Ok as didn't eat big fry up or have loads cakes biscuits.

Saw a new doctor this week, he asked if I'd had any low sugar attacks. When he explained what they were, I was like wow, I though the sweats, shakes sickness were mild panic attacks. He said get test kit and test next time.

Next time had sweats tested and was 84mg (yes bough wrong code free) or 4.7 , so come on internet and find those are normal level. From more reading possible having fake hypos as body used to high levels.

Immediately on low carb diet and testing lots to see what raise suger, hoping to re train my body, back to lower levels

Congratulations on your new start, wish you the best of luck. We, as a group, will do all we can to help & support you.

Welcome @Blue flash yes you are correct about the possible fake hypos many people experience them, keep up the hard work re testing what works and what doesn't 🙂 x

Hello and welcome to the forum. 🙂

I want to control my diabetes at the same time as losing weight - I have it in my head that my diabetes will get better or even reverse, if I lose weight. In the past losing weight has never been a problem for me due to my willpower, together with the fact that no matter what I did in life, and what age I was, I am one of a group of people who will only ever lose weight if on less than 800 calories a day, as soon as I go above that I start to gain - this is not my imagination, it has been tested. So nowadays, I'm having difficulties because I know I have to, and want to, control my weight and my diabetes but it's driving me crazy, I can't put weight on and yet since January I've put 4kilos on, does anyone have any advice as to what I might try. I'm thinking Atkins or LCHF

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Hi grovesy that's more or less what I've been doing, I try carefully to choose the lowest carbs and I don't eat much at all and not in between meals, I find it very frustrating sometimes.

I know it's not really discussed in this thread, but I wondered if anyone has a good recipe for an after dinner treat i.e. cake or dessert. I've had none since Feb 2016 and it would be nice to have the odd treat, also salad dressings.

I ofte have a small portion of berries with a tablespoon of clotted cream an another one of crushed mixed nuts . It works for me .

On the salad dressings its worth investing in a truly expensive balsamic vinegar . I use Belazu from Waitrose £12.99 a bottle . I only need 5 g of that max plus similar amount of olive oil. makes the salad taste wonderful - no effect on my blood sugars . Also try sprinkling some mixed seeds on top of the salad.

sounds lovely Amanda, and one of my favourite rooms in my house is, and has always been, the kitchen. I love to cook, and the best balsamic you can possibly get is worth the extra money. I buy mine from a well known Italian family run deli in Edinburgh. It would be nice if we had a Waitrose closeby, unfortunately despite having planning permission granted last year, Waitrose pulled out, so now my closest one is 30 miles away, and they do not deliver this far south as a result. I shall try what you said, and thank you for the reply.

Waitrose pulled out of all there planned developments last year as they are not doing as well as they were. They let the planning permission lapse on the one here that was planned but they pulled out of here about 15 years ago and it was replaced by Wilkinson's. So I was not totally suprised.

early last year they had a big campaign here locally, asking for us to support their planning application when it came up - they gave us their reference number, and I and many others backed them up only to be told by them after their planning application had been approved that they were not going ahead. I personally was very disappointed because where they planned the store was very close to me, and would have been so handy.

Well the one they closed down was right in the City Center in a shopping mall.
The one they were going build was slight out of the City Center, but on the site of the old Post Office Sorting Office. I don't think it was in the right place. Though I doubt I would have used much as I live nearer to Sainsburys and Aldi.

I am seven miles from my local Morrisons, ten miles from Aldi and Lidle and 12 miles from Sainsbury and 7 miles from Tesco and similarly ASDA. Since at the moment I can't drive, I get it all delivered. A funny thing, before Morrisons took over the old Safeway, I used to be able to buy fresh - flown in from California dates, absolutely succulent and delicious, nothing like the dates we were used to, but also Guavas either fresh or canned. The funny thing is absolutely none of the supermarkets I've mentioned sell either - I wonder why!!!
