How scary for her! I’m so glad she’s found an answer - and I hope Sanofi keep making what she and others need.

This is hardly worth reporting this as news. When this system was introduced in 2014 a similar story emerged as part of the demonstration of the system. It had been under development and testing for a couple of years before that.

Naturally, it’s a very rare procedure, and of course this system still needs an external insulin pump to function.

And I daresay Roche will soon stop making the diaport, same as both their tubed insulin pumps.

It was news to me and I'd guess very good news to the person benefitting from it. It was also the first of it's kind in Canada.
It might have been news to you, but the system and its use is at least seven years old. As I said, it’s a rare procedure, which likely accounts for your not knowing about it, and just because it was a first in Canada doesn’t make it particularly newsworthy. It’s likely the first time in any country where it has been used - allergy to all injected insulins is exceptionally rare,

Right...now I understand your point. You say the dia port system isn't new. I hadn't posted it about that, as you infer it's been around for years. It was the story of being unable to absorb insulin using pens and now having it inserted into the stomach cavity as a work around that I thought was intersting and news worthy.

Just for you @mikeyB i've updated the thread title.

And you’ve updated it wrong. It’s not in the stomach, it’s in the peritoneal cavity. Unless you regard everything between the ribs and the naughty bits as the stomach.
