DUBAI // Single Emirati women with diabetes say their chances of finding a husband are lower because of the stigma attached to their condition.
"Between me and my two sisters, I tend to be disregarded as a candidate wife because I am diabetic," said Aisha Al Qaissieh, a 25-year-old Emirati with Type-1 diabetes who writes a blog about her experiences with the disorder.
"I see how eager they seem regarding marriage right before they find out I'm diabetic," she said. "After they know, they will outright state a rejection or just tiptoe the other way till they disappear."
