Had a review few weeks ago and my blood test results are on my online health records except my blood sugar level!.Which was the most important test result I wanted to know!I am interested to see how I am doing.My last test a year ago my level was 12.4 mil/L.I have gone onto statins and my cholesterol level was down.My blood pressure was fine etc.I rang my Drs surgery to ask why my blood sugar level wasn’t on my recent test results and the answer was “I’m sure if there was a problem we would have been in touch”I don’t like to pester them with all the problems we have at the moment.Should I just forget about it for another year?.
 
I wouldn't take that for an answer. Call back and enquire what the result was and push for another test if necessary. The receptionist is not a doctor and it's your health at stake.

No, absolutely insist on the results, if there was a problem and it is not there you should request another test. Make sure you get the actual number not just, Oh it's fine or it's a bit high or whatever.
 
Yes, insist on the result as it's possible the test was never completed which may be why it's not listed. As we all know surgeries often forget to let you know if there is a problem with a result; I never accept that nonsense.

I wonder if perhaps you are looking for a BG result when what you should actually be looking for is your HbA1c result.

Can you see an HbA1c reading on your results? That is the most important one as regards your diabetes, not a BG reading. HbA1c should be expressed in mmols/mol and/or a % which is the old way of quantifying it. Hopefully you got a number under 48mmols/mol as that is the diabetes diagnosis threshold.
 
I would definitely want to know the figures for my HbA1c.

Before the online access to results I did have occasions where a receptionist would just tell that ‘my result was high’. Once I had the figures it was well within my agreed target. these are your results and it is great that you are keen to monitor your progress.

I also wonder as @rebrascora has suggested that it may be a confusion with terminology. Have a look for HbA1c online. If it is not there phone back and ask for the figures, rather than their assessment of the result.
