I’m cooking for the family

But I’m a diabetic cook

They’re all eating what they like

While I really have to look

Those treats I give the rest of them

Are not so good for me

I have to pay attention

As they affect how I will be

Carbohydrate counting

Fat content is a thing

Sugar sweet is not so neat

What reactions will they bring

Be careful with that take away

Those sauces can be sweet

I’m a careful diabetic

Who will not be diabeat

It’s hard to feel the animals

When you’re the keeper of the zoo

Sugar, spice, and all things nice

May not be good for you

Feed the big gorilla

And the baby chimes as well

But the diabetic Bird of Paradise

If sugared, soon would tell

It’s all about the balance

And the meals that we all share

Sit together at the moderation station

And show yourself some care

Be sensible, stay healthy

Look after all you do

Keep some health on the cupboard shelf

For them, and yes, for you
