A Maribyrnong man?s positive attitude during a lifelong battle with diabetes has been recognised with a Kellion Victory Medal by Diabetes Australia.
Paul Poropat received the honour from Lieutenant-Governor Marilyn Warren last week in a ceremony at Government House.
Mr Poropat, 55, said diabetes had been challenging but also rewarding.
?Diabetes has made me the person I am ? more compassionate, more understanding and sympathetic towards those who are ill or are not well, because I have experienced the highs and the lows,? he said.
