Hello. I have just joined as I am having problems with pins and needles and pains in my hands and fingers. Have been diabetic for 35 years but does anyone else have this and know how to deal with it? Any help would be apprciated.

Hi Juju, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you spoken to your doctor about this? We do have many members who have reported similar symptoms. What has your control been like? Sometimes, neuropathy can be transient when you go through a period of poor control. There are medications available to deal with it and help relieve the pain. Is it just your hands or do you have problems with your feet also?

Neuropathy

Hi there Northerner.

I have had an ongoing tooth infection that I am aware will have caused some issues with my blood sugar control but now that my blood sugars are lower again, that is when it is at its worst! I did speak to my diabetic nurse who said I may need meds for it, but didn't say what. I am concerned though that it may not be due to diabetes and that it could be carpal tunnel. On looking on Internet I found the symptoms were very similar. Do you think just because I am diabetic they may assume it is neuropathy rather than check it out for sure, or does the treatment involve the same thing. I am a bit confused!?🙂
