Diabetic Lancing Pen recommendations

The lancing pen that mum is currently using is a Mylife Softlance but it doesn't seem to penetrate the skin enough to draw blood, even on the maximum depth setting; I don't if it's the length of the needles or mum's skin is causing the issues but she finds it difficult to draw blood.

can anyone recommend a decent lancing pen that I can get her?
(I personally wouldn't mind buying the needles if needs be but she gets the ones for her current pen on prescription so I know that would be her preferred option - and mine if saves an argument!)

Hi @Taffgirl , welcome to the forum . I use the Fast clix and it’s lancing devise by Accu Chek , I find them very good and do not often fail to get enough blood to appear.
each drum contains 6 lancets , you fit the drum into lancet devise.
If self funding them they are not cheap, sometimes boots have them on special offer.

If she is new to finger pricking, it could be her technique .

I would recommend the Accu-Chek fastclix
I recently got one on recommendation of others on here I recently bought a
Accu-Chek fastclix (ebay) I paid 12.49 inc P&P
it uses a cartridge containing the lancetes (needles)

think I also paid about a tenner for 200 cartridges
(each cartridge contains 6 needles)

I had real problems gett8ng any blood no matter what type or length of lancet I used, until I warmed my hands on a hot water bottle for 10 minutes prior to drawing any blood.

It has worked every time I have done it.

Ah thank you all very much. I'll tell her to try warming her hands first & see if that makes a difference but if not, I'll get her her the Fastclix pen & cartridges & run the risk of an argument!

Yes, in my experience that helps a lot regardless. And yes, the Fastclix is really good.

I found the device and lancets I had were a slight mismatch and the stab was too shallow, so I put a tiny wodge of paper into the device so the lancet is taller. It means pulling out the lancet rather than using the ejector slider, but that is not a problem.
