The charity Diabetes UK’s ‘Putting Feet First’ campaign has been credited by the latest National Diabetes Inpatient Audit (NaDIA) report as having led to more hospitals than ever having specialist footcare teams that can help prevent amputations. The campaign used local media to "name and shame" NHS units without specialist footcare teams.

The audit shows that the percentage of hospitals with a specialist team, which the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) says every hospital providing emergency medical care should have, has risen from 58.3 per cent in 2011 to 71.8 per cent now.

Our local podiatry unit is excellent at diabetic issues. Why does a hospital need a foot unit?

Morning routine: flexitol and canistan on the feet before socks. Hydrated and fungus free.
