I couldn't believe this when I first read it. We could make the food industry billions with their venture into diabetic foods.😉

Most of us here know what the side effects are with diabetic foods and we are likely to help the makers of toilet rolls as well.

I liked DUK's comment at the bottom of the article.

If you read it again what the author was saying makes sense.
ie foods low GI and diabetic friendly. There was no mention of artificial sweetener.
What the author stated was exactly what the well informed diabetic does know. Fredy Dawson was just saying there is a market place for products.

How many newly diagnosed come on the forums saying they have no idea what to eat?
Then you have the well informed that know how to substitute ground almonds for flour (cuts carbs) same as using berries in meals for low impact?

Then you have the public who can't or wont cook so want stuff right off the shelf. (Goldmine)

They do seem to be missing the point that a diet that is healthy for people with diabetes is...a healthy diet! What's all this about bean sprouts and curd cakes? And not all bread has a high GI. Granted, we would probably be better avoiding certain high GI fruit or fruit juices, but most things deemed healthy are available to us as much as the rest of the populace. There's also the problem that things marketed as suitable for diabetics may actually be anything but according to a person's meter - look at how they are marketing Weetabix as 'slow-release' these days, it's anything but!
