A father who was rushed to hospital with high blood sugar is now running a half marathon to improve the lives of others.

John Samson, 43 of Haywards Heath was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 14 years ago after a blood test at his doctor’s revealed very high blood glucose levels. He was rushed to the Princess Royal Hospital.

John said: “I was getting up six times in the night to go to the loo, I wasn’t able to play football anymore as I felt so exhausted and I lost over a stone in weight.

“I felt relieved when I was finally diagnosed because not only did I now know the cause of these symptoms but I also learnt I could manage the condition with daily insulin injections and get online support from Diabetes UK.”
