Last year I got diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy after my diabetic eye screening. I haven’t had a Diabetic Eye Screening this year, so I was wondering now that I’ve been diagnosed with it and seeing the eye clinic regularly, do I get an invitation to go to the eye screening or not?

If you’re seeing the eye specialists regularly could you ask them? Doesn’t seem much point being invited to the screening if you’re seeing specialists. The purpose of the screening is to identify any damage so people can be more closely monitored and treated as appropriate. You’re already having that.

I go to the retina clinic at the eye hospital and don't get screening appointments anymore as that monitoring is done at the clinic with more regular checks. Are your retinas scanned at the eye clinic and/or examined with a slit lamp?

I just have an eye test and then they take pictures and measure my eyes. That’s all they do. I don’t have anything to do with retinas, they’ve never said anything about it.

The letter should have said how often you are to be screened.

Diabetic retinopathy is a condition that damages your retinas. If you’ve been seeing the eye specialists for retinopathy then it will be your retinas they are examining. It might be worth you reading up on the condition to understand it better?
