Hi feeling really alone and down about life. Sick of tablets and blood test strips. Fed up with avoiding "nice" food, but the consequences of eating such "illegal" things is horrible.
I miss life, I miss normal, I miss being able to just go shopping... and eat a delicious squishy brownie.

Crumblebee is crumbling.

But eating a low carb diet is having all the nice things - isn't it?
I make myself omelettes with tomatoes, cheese or mushrooms, I have a waffle maker and make 'chaffles' for bacon 'chaffys' - the low carb version of waffles for a butty. I have steak or roast chicken or pork chops for dinner with roast veges or a stir fry - I can't say I miss high carb foods at all.

Crumblebee - this lockdown business has got most of us down with or without diabetes or anything else healthwise. We've been confined to barracks basically since March - oh fine confine us to our back garden all through the lovely weather when there was very very little traffic and thus cleaner air - then once it's turned colder and nasty and the main but 'B' road past our house has heavy traffic again (starts just after 5am don't bother asking how I know that, as its pretty obvious) let us out for exercise ...... thanks.

There's not very much reason for either of us to get out of bed most days and yes I do have things to do but motivation to do them? That got up a long time ago and buggered off .....

Just have to keep on carrying on is all I personally can do, so virtual {{{Hugs}}} and hope you manage to join in !

I have the Monday blues - sending a big hug.
Diabetes is so hard, I know how you feel, like you're on the outside looking in on everyone else.
Can you make yourself a brownie (or get someone to make one?) you can have these things with a few tweaks. I know what you mean though 100%

Hi. Having to control the carby things is maddening at times but at least you can have eggs and bacon etc for breakfast etc. Ignore any advice to have low-fat things as it's really only the carbs that need to be kept down. Nothing is banned of course. I will be having my daily Crumpet with afternoon tea but it's only 20gm carbs. Do look at the food packs as there are ways to have some of the nice things. Do you have 85% Dark Chocolate; I have a little each day?

I'm sorry that you are feeling low. Its such a horrible feeling. It sounds like its not just diabetes that is effecting your mood.
Please consider talking to your Dr if your depressed mood continues.
Wishing you well.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so down @Crumblebee

But you aren’t alone. Many of us have experienced, or are experiencing just the same feelings and thoughts from time to time.

Diabetes can be a singularly challenging and relentless condition to live with, and as you say, the perils of ‘falling off the wagon’ are all too often told to us.

I was really struck by this blog post that I read something like 10 years ago, that all our efforts and discipline is essentially aiming for ‘nothing’. So that ’nothing’ happens. It really helped me understand how I felt at times.

Diabetes burnout is becoming more and more recognised as a very real experience, and you should be able to speak to your GP or clinic about it, to see if they can offer you any additional help and support.

We all feel for you Crumblebee and my big hug is heading your way. below is the link to the Diabetes UK info on burnout. it really helped me a while ago when I wasn't sure why I was feeling so low. When we can get out again Go buy that brownie and enjoy.....

(((hugs)))
