Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi All

This is my first post. Wanted to start by saying i have found this forum very helpful since being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes at the start of the year.

Am sorry if this sounds mean or rude but i was wondering if any diabetics here have had the virus and recovered?

Please stay safe.

Who knows as we are not being tested 🙂
There is a lot of scare mongering going on regarding diabetes and covid 19. Bottom line is make sure you stay safe keep your diabetes controlled to the best of your ability and like the many millions in this country you will be fine.

I cant agree more with your advice.

I only ask because the place i work at is due to reopen again on Tuesday. There is no social distancing at all due to a very small office and when i spoke to the manager about putting me on furlough because am diabetic and i received the 12 week stay at home letter we ended up getting into an argument as he believes the government wont follow through with the 80% wage payment promise.

Am scared to go back in case of the worst case scenario so i was hoping to find out if any other diabetics have hopefully recovered so it gives me a bit of courage.

Your boss owes you a duty of care so no social distancing then you do not go to work.
I've no idea what medical conditions you have which meant you had a 12 week isolation letter as diabetes alone will not merit one but if you do qualify for that letter than your boss has to pay you surely?

Yes, I know several (via Twitter) who have had (untested) cases with all the symptoms, and who have felt grim for a few days, then recovered.

@megga on the forum is also recovering / recovered -https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/threads/coronavirus-anyone-got-it-or-think-they-may-have-it.86035/#post-965529

Yes I'm fairly sure myself and " The Irishman" had this mildly about six weeks ago when it went thru our village, we all moaned we had the ' flu jab and it wasn't working but agreed that what ever this was it wasn't like anything any of us had ever had before.
Headache, joint pain, dry cough that lasted three weeks and in my case sore throat so bad I could hardly swallow, sore eyes and no sense of taste or smell for a couple of days. ( which apparently is the deciding factor as if you have had it or not)
I have depleted immunity following surgery and hormone treatment for breast cancer so I usually get things worse than himself!
Juries out on the temperature because we imbibed industrial quanties of cold and 'flu pills and Buttercup Syrup as soon as the tickle in the throat started.
We felt like " you know what" for a couple of weeks and still very tired and tire out easily but we are still here.😉

Glad you are feeling better jmyrtle

Ditto and her mum had something similar a couple of months ago too, and various folk in various places around the country had the same - but no-one knew either then or now, what it actually was.
