Several Chesterfield County elementary school students with Type 1 diabetes were left without adequate medical supervision when their primary caregiver left her position without notice more than a week ago and was replaced by staff members who lacked proper training, parents say.

The parents of two of the students at Swift Creek Elementary School said they were never told that the person responsible for monitoring insulin pumps and glucose monitors for at least five diabetic students would not return to the school for the last two weeks of the school year.

They were very lucky to have a caregiver in the first place! Getting care in school is a nightmare. Each new school year is a horribly stressful time for families with a cwd.

Chesterfield in this instance is in Virginia, USA - confusingly (at least for this British person) near a place called Midlothian!

Not a good situation, especially the lack of communication about the staff member leaving, wherever it happened, though.
