Hi everyone,
I have had diabetes for 20 years this year and use an insulin pump. My control is good.
I have recently had a lot of joint problems. I was diagnosed with bilateral frozen shoulders, which I had operated on. Following this I was told that I did not have a diabetic frozen shoulder (which I understand is fairly common ) but possible rheumatoid arthritis!
Following a referral to a rheumatologist I have been diagnosed with diabetic Cheiroarthropathy! I now have joint pain and stiffness in both shoulders, right knee, both wrists and several fingers. So far I have been unable to find much information on this condition. My diabetic nurse had never heard of it and my consultant is on annual leave! A steroid injection has helped to a degree but the rheumatologist has said it's not a long term treatment, and as expected my sugars are haywire!
Any advice or information would be very helpful as I don't really know where to go from here!
Debbie.
