Hi
I was diagnosed last Monday with all of the above.
Is this quite common?
I am feeling quite unwell still, although Gliclizide is helping.
Thanks all,

Chris

had you said 'under active' Thyroid I'd have said Yes because hypothyroid is auto-immune and so is Type 1 diabetes. However I don't know what causes hyperthyroid, just that it causes people to be a bit hyperactive and do everything extremely quickly - watching my mate do the veg for dinner always made me feel inadequate LOL, plus she always had to be doing something and of course it kept the weight off her. She calmed down again once she'd had it removed and started taking the hypothyroid drugs. (Levothyroxine and another one I forget the name of)

What have you discussed about treating yours?

High cholesterol isn't connected to or with diabetes, it's just one of the things they always test these days when you are having other tests so they may as well take another teaspoonful. Anyway - as soon as you cut down on the carbs a bit to help the diabetes treatment, your chol levels will usually also reduce down to far better levels.

Hi Chris, welcome to the Forum and I hope you start to feel better as time goes on. When you say you've been feeling unwell, how have you been feeling?
Have you had any dietary advice so far, were you given any on diagnosis, and are you testing your blood glucose levels?
I'm sure you'll get some good advice from other members, on how to reduce carbohydrate to recommended levels, which as trophywench has said should help reduce blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
There is some link between Thyroid disease and Diabetes;
https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/related-conditions#thyroid

Although there is no direct link between Diabetes and high cholesterol levels, they both increase your risk of developing other conditions, which is why also the test is one of the 15 annual checks someone with Diabetes should have.

Welcome to the forum, that is a lot to take in all at once.

Welcome, I have two out of the three, I’m type 2 managed by metformin, diet and activity, I’ve also just started taking statins for high cholesterol 😉
