Diabetes week starts this Sunday (11th to 17th June) and I thought it would be nice to highlight the theme: Know Diabetes. Fight Diabetes and what’s going on this year.

The focus of knowing diabetes is really at the center of this year’s theme and we really want to encourage everyone from the diabetic community to share their own experiences and stories to help others. I know that this is something that is done every day on the forum and it’s fantastic to see it in practice here already!

Fighting diabetes is something each of us do every day. With new challenges occurring all the time it’s important for everyone to come together and fight – whether it’s post code lottery issues, test strip restrictions, perceptions of Type 1 and Type 2, of better care, rights for people at work or children at school living with diabetes.

This year there are lots of ways to support Diabetes Week- (and I’ve pulled some bulletpoints from the website for reference):

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Get_involved/Diabetes-Week/

• Join the conversation on social media using the hashtags #diabetesweek #knowdiabetes #fightdiabetes

• Hear from our supporters on social media – they’ll be sharing their stories of how they ‘know diabetes’ and ‘fight diabetes’ during the week.

• Download our posters to put up in your local community and help us raise awareness. We’ve created a variety of posters to help our supporters understand ‘Know Diabetes. Fight Diabetes’. It’s a great way of showing the work that we do, not only as an organisation, but with our supporters.

Have a good Diabetes Week!

My local group are doing whole day events every day of diabetes week. I did sessions Sunday and yesterday, with a couple more scheduled later in the week. People tend to be very generous and it's amazing the people you talk to.

For anyone who can, it's very worthwhile.

@AndBreathe Those sessions sound great! It's always interesting to listen and talk with others who who share their experiences! 🙂

Don't appear to be doing anything special round here.
