Hi everyone

Just wanted to say hello , im new and request a little advice please🙂

I am on metformin x2 a day.

Iv lost 2 stone now. Pleased with that , my problem is I am a massage therapist and often at work I am feeling dizzy , can't get my words out , and my mind goes blank , bad memory and concentration.

Its embarrassing.

I didnt have this before the metformin.
I seem worse in hit weather too.

My last 2 recent blood tests are fine blood sugars are good.

I'm at a loss what to do as doctors seem to think it's unrelated.
I feel like I'm under water or something it's a strange sensation and only occasionally happens.

I am also going through menopause so I guess it could be related. So tricky to know which to tackle.
Has anyone else ever experienced this please?

Thank you so much

Hi @Healthier, welcome to the forum 🙂 Well done on your weight loss and getting your levels under control. I haven't heard of this in relation to metformin - are you on any other medications, for blood pressure or cholesterol, perhaps?

Hi northerner thank you
no I'm not , it's a bit worrying to be honest but strange that it started when I started the metformin . Thank you

Thank you very much It's the first time in years iv been able to. I was a sugar addict though

Hi and welcome to the forum. Do you test you blood glucose levels yourself? Your bloods may be going lower than your body is used to and you may be experiencing false or high hypos as your body gets used to more normal blood sugar levels, that's all I can think of. Ive not had those feelings with metformin.

Welcome to the forum, Healthier.
It's worth asking a pharmacist for a medication review, particularly if you are taking any other medications.
However, with your very impressive weight loss (congratulations!), change in diet, normalising of blood glucose levels and onset of menopausal symptoms, any of those, singly or in combination, could cause the symptoms you mention.

Hello and welcome to you.

Hello and welcome to the forum, Healthier. 🙂

Heather, this happens to me. I verbally derail, like running into sand and I lose my ability to speak and think coherently. It is linked to caffeine intake with me so I have banned diet coke. I have never drunk hot drinks but if you drink a lot of tea or coffee, might be worth cutting down because I find caffeine seems to mess up my BG.
