Nigel Evans has urged people to ask their GP to test them for diabetes.
The Ribble Valley MP invited Gordon Dixon, chairman of the Ribble Valley Group of Diabetes UK, to the Houses of Parliament to discuss testing for diabetes and its treatment.
Mr Evans said: ?There are some staggering facts about diabetes with 3.7 million people with diabetes in the UK, including an estimated 850,000 who have not been diagnosed and seven million people at high risk.
?It already costs approximately ?10 billion annually, 10% of the NHS budget.
