got a phone call out of the blue this afternoon from my local hospital and it is back to doing BG testing for 5 days then things will be taken from there as i have been on a roller coaster ride. (well back to sore fingers again)

also after a blunder i am now starting treatment for fibrosis as i was finding it really hard to get mucous up, the treatment is mucous thinners.

haven't been discharge from hospital for the fibrosis but was in the process of dealing with the blunder when the country came under attack from the COVID-19

apart from that i am feeling a bit better and so is my partner.

Good! Hope you can cough some of the muck up, mikey.

many thnks for the kind message.

years ago i had the same issue and developed a left lung infection which i then battled with for a year, i lost around 3 stone due to illness and the last thing i want is the same issues. the people who i spoke to yesterday feel that i may of had the fibrosis for quite some time but at least they are doing what they can for me.

i am only at stage 1 26% but wouldn't want this to go upwards, there are only 4 stage levels so am okay at the moment.

had a really good BG of 8.3 this morning which is a miracle for me, not sure how long it will stop low down though.

not sure how many will see this with the covid messages.

my diabetes levels seem to be really good at the moment but when they are around normal i feel really shaky but yet when they have been high i seem to feel okay.

i am taking sitagliptin along with 1 tablet of gliclazide.

after 5 days of recording BG i will be speaking to a diabetic nurse but until then any ideas about the shakiness welcome.

Well - I should think it's probably because you have been high for so long your whole body is more than used to it and so objects strongly when you make it go lower than it's used to, hence the shakiness - a well recognised symptom of hypoglycaemia - even though you aren't 'clinically' hypoglycaemic - as you say it occurs at 'normal' BG reading levels.

Hang in there! If you absolutely can't stand it, then eat or drink something with a small amount of carb - less than what we'd normally say we need for a REAL hypo which is (for me) roughly 15g carb. So something boring like a smallish Rich Tea biscuit, 5.9g carb each for McVities and I suggest those because I absolutely don't find them attractive or delicious and hence would not be tempted to eat several! - but whatever 'doesn't' normally float your own boat!

On the 'plus' side - you seem to have excellent warning of hypoglycaemia so by reducing your overall usual BG level gradually (diabetes ain't a sprint, it's always a marathon) you'll most likely retain them whilst gradually plodding towards only getting them when they are real!

When I was on Gliclazide it was not always how low it was going it was often the speed it was dropping.

very grateful for the replies and the explanations, promise i will hang in there even though the shakiness can be bad. it has been nearly a year since my levels were normal.

the gliclizide is 80mg strenght.

Well, grovesy's comment is relevant - when the BG drops very quickly, hypo signals are definitely multiplied. What sort of daily average BGs are you getting, mikey?

only done a few days reading but looks like around 9, just wandering if the sudden drop is happening over night as when i wake up i feel shaky, will be worth me checking if i wake up early morning.

certainly makes things interesting and wouldn't like to thread a needle 🙂

Hope you manage to get those shakes under control @mikeydt1

Not a pleasant feeling at all!

If it is your wonky ‘glucose thermostat’, then hopefully it should reset itself over the next few days/weeks as your body becomes more used to normal BGs.

A few overnight BG checks at 3am may be worth considering though - just to see what’s happening overnight.

this afternoon my BG crashed in to hypo mode thankfully had tea and now resolved but felt dreadful when it happened.

got a few more days of readings to do then will be ringing them in to the hospital where i can also discuss the shakiness, may be some blood works may be needed.

also what i don't need, another outbreak of shingles, not bad and nothing to be concerned but will be ringing it in the morning to the doctors as i have some meds to sort out. i had a really bad outbreak and have been told it can last several years. think it is due to stress of the situation we are all in.

for now night all and take care in the outside world.

Sorry to hear about your hypo Mikey

What was your BG at the time?

Is the shakiness with the hypos as that can be a sign of a hypo.

the shakiness seems to be when the levels are dropping and also with hypo i got them.

just an update have now done my 5 days of readings and have contacted the diabetic unit so will try to address the issues above in due course, very difficult though doing stuff over the phone, in hospital they have the advantage of doing blood works or other tests to see if there is something underlying.

any way when i hear anything i will be back to update, tc and many thanks for all the kind replies.

what a waste of time been referred, the hospital nurse who i spoke to was a total dead loss, only tried to prescribe a medication i was allergic to and then tried to increase something which i can only just tolerate, then after that no nothing not any considerations for different meds nor even a request to see if my diabetes is getting better or worse with a hba1c, which i know has gone up from 59 to 73.

basically been dumped and left it in the hands of my doctors so more pressure on another service to address the shakiness. talk about a nurse taking the easy route out of doing her own duties.

i am so annoyed as i have wasted a weeks supply of test strips which i buy.

If you are Gliclazide you should be being prescribed tests strips.
