A team from Oxford University Hospitals has scooped top prizes at a medical awards ceremony for their work on caring for children with diabetes.

The Diabetes in Primary Schools Oxfordshire project won the top prize in the ?Diabetes Team of the Year? category in the British Medical Journal Awards in London last Thursday.

The team carried out a study to see how they could improve the management of children?s diabetes at school, and also reduce anxiety and increase the knowledge of school staff about the condition.

The study also looked at ways of eliminating the need for parents to give up work to attend the school every day to administer insulin.
