Hello all,

I am not a diabetic, I am a lecturer at Northumbria University and I am leading an MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology. On this course we look at the causes of chronic health conditions and how these conditions impact on the lives of those who have the condition. Diabetes is one of the health conditions that we cover and I am very aware of not having the students graduate without ever heard first hand from people with diabetes.

I am therefore very keen to try to get some one (or more than one person) in to talk to the students and describe to them what it means having diabetes in terms of daily living and also for friends and family. I think it is important that the students are able to get answers to some of their questions from the people best placed to give them.

As such I would be most grateful if there is anyone (or any group) who has diabetes and is willing to come to the university for an hour on the 22nd Feb from 14:00-15:00 to talk to the students.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Les

hi just wondering what age of people you are looking for ? because i am a student myself (Age 18) and have had a lot of diabetes experience including quite a few traumatic moments that i am more than willing to share with your students if your interested ?

Hi Kitten,
Thank you very much for your interest. Age is no criteria. I would just like the students to be aware of the everyday issues that are involved for people with diabetes. I would really encourage you to share your experiences with the students.

Les, please forgive me, but I'd like to remind everyone to be sure that if they agree to attend something like this that they take all reasonable steps to ensure that it is genuine beforehand.

Kind regards,

Andy

Les do you have an email that I could contact you through? Do you have an official university email because you are a tutor there? If so I feel that it would be wise to perhaps discuss the matter on that.
and Andy very very well said! You can't be too careful with this type of thing !
