A DUNFERMLINE man with a severe medical condition has been hit with a bill for bedroom tax despite being unable to get a smaller flat.

Thomas Barbour (59) of Erich Drive, Dunfermline, can't climb stairs due to problems caused by diabetes.

Unable to work on medical grounds, he downsized from a house on Keir Hardie Terrace and looked for a one bedroom flat.

But Kingdom Housing Association had no one-bed properties that suited Mr Barbour's needs, instead placing him in a two-bed, ground-loor flat.

Now he's stuck with a ?40-a-month bill for bedroom tax for having the extra room. .../

Has no one told him of the exceptional circumstances fund? This will allow the extra housing cost to be met.
