Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
As a newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic ( who has been taking Matformin for 7 days) I wish to take part in any medical research that is helpful to others in similar circumstances. And would like to find others with similar interests.

Hi there, welcome to the forum. How have you been doing since you were diagnosed?

You can sign up to take part in NHS medical research on the UK Clinical Trials Gateway: https://bepartofresearch.nihr.ac.uk/

You can filter by what type of research you're interested in, location etc. Hope this helps!

We also get many requests to take part in diabetes research that Uni students are doing as part of their PhD, posted on the forum. Some apply to diabetes in general and others are more specific so you have to see which are the ones you're eligible for.

Thank you that’s very helpful, It has only been 7days since I received my diagnosis and so far things are going fairly well, I’ve cut out carbohydrates and started on Matformin and my weight has gone down a couple of pounds. I’ve been exercising more too. After getting my diagnosis I began researching on the internet and this morning received an information pack form my GP and made an appointment to see a specialist on 12/11/19. Overall my mood is buoyant I regard this as a challenge and I’m rising to it. I’ve always liked learning new things and intend to make the most of whatever happens.
