Hundreds of people are being urged to join a major project at a hospital in Bradford district to help doctors reduce the harm caused by diabetes by detecting the disease earlier.

More than 300 adult volunteers ? who do not have the condition ? are needed to take part in research at Airedale Hospital in Steeton , near Keighley .

The research is being carried out to test the effectiveness of a new machine which will be a ?quick non-invasive? way of finding out whether people have diabetes, which can cause heart and kidney disease.

Ooooh, what's that machine then? sounds very interesting to me?

Do you remember the Glucowatch or whatever it was called, that they were sposed to be bringing out, was supposed to detect your BG from the sweat on your arm underneath the 'face' part of the watch. Never made it onto the market. Perhaps this one uses much the same technology? or something.

If we lived near Keighley I'd sent my husband to volunteer, go and find out and report back!
