A little boy's Christmas dream came true when he was taken on a surprise visit to see Santa in Lapland.

Oliver Carr was given the chance to travel to see Father Christmas in his snowy homeland December 3 after the When You Wish Upon a Star charity made the dream a reality for a group of seriously ill children.

Six-year-old Oliver was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 2011. His mum, Jenny Carr, said she told him at 3am that they would be going to see Santa but he didn't believe her.

She said: "In Lapland we started off with a reindeer ride on a sledge, there was a husky ride, and we also went on a motorised sledge. There was a visit from Santa and we also visited his village and saw his workshop.
