Hi guys

Had my diabetes clinic yesterday and told the nurse that I was miserable with the amount I can eat on my current meds. She actually listened for once and upped my gliclazide so I have to test test test to make sure I don't hypo and I see her again next Wednesday.

Only thing that bothers me is that I'm fairly active on most days, and I've lost inches off my waist (2 sizes) but I haven't lost any weight. I think this could be to do with me exercising more and building muscle as well as losing fat, but I also know that gliclazide can inhibit weight loss.

I only have half a stone to lose but has anyone else struggled to lose it on gliclazide? My consultant some time ago suggested I try stiglitapin? But the nurse has yet to think I should move to it.

Ideas anyone?

Glad you had a good appointment 🙂

What's your BMI? I found that once I got down to about 23 ish that I found it difficult to go much lower. My legs are a lot more toned now (I cycle and walk a bit) so I suspect that's contributed.

So yes, I think exercising more will cause you to keep some weight on. Muscle does weight more then fat.
