STAMFORD, Conn. ? Westhill High junior Meg D?Alessandro hates to miss practice. She hates even more to miss a volleyball, softball or basketball game. So when she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in October, the three-sport star was not about to let it get in the way of her love of sports.
Late in the volleyball season, D?Alessandro found that she was constantly thirsty and suffering with bad, cold-like symptoms. She went online to try to figure out what her symptoms meant, and diabetes was among the causes.
