Olympic gold medallist Cathy Freeman has released photographs of her newborn baby girl. Ruby Anne Susie Murch was born shortly after 8am AEST on Friday. The birth was a victory for Freeman, 38, who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and had to inject herself with insulin four times a day throughout the term of the pregnancy.

DIABETES is on the rise across the Monaro, growing by an alarming rate of more than 20 per cent over the past five years. A new study undertaken by the Australian Diabetes Council into the prevalence of diabetes has shown the rate is increasing across the state.
