Did diabetes medication play a role in a February workplace slaying at the F.R. Drake Company?
Police in Waynesboro are looking into the possibility that Boyd W. Wiseman, 54, could have been under the effects of his prescribed diabetes medication, according to an affidavit for a search warrant filed by Waynesboro police, and a blood sugar measuring device might hold the answer.
Wiseman is charged with second-degree murder in the Feb. 27 killing of his co-worker, 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Earhart of Staunton.
Evidence at a preliminary hearing last month showed Earhart was shot two times, once in the stomach and once in the back.
A Waynesboro detective testified at a July preliminary hearing that Wiseman admitted shooting Earhart after the Staunton man cussed at him. Although he couldn't give specific details, Wiseman told police he remembered hearing "two booms" and seeing Earhart fall face first to the floor.
