Not sleeping again Wirralass?
Me neither.
I haven't eaten bread, rice, pasta, potato for 2 years. I have discovered many ways to cook eggs, meat, and fish. Blood glucose levels have been good. Hypos are mild and easy to treat with small amounts of glucose. Weight is stable. It's working for me so why rock the boat?
If I encounter any of this 'backfiring' then I will reconsider my options.
Insomnia is a pain in the proverbial isn't it Benny G? But I'm going to hit the sack now and listen to a hypnosis meditation recording ~ I'll be asleep within 10mins~15mins. Why don't you do the same ~ there's plenty to choose from in my thread *RELAXING MUSIC & HYPNOSIS FOR INSOMNIACS
Night night.

Having tried very low carb diet can relate to many things mentioned there, one being protein problem, went from injecting 4x day to 10x. When diet constantly controls your thoughts its time for change.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

I am assuming that was 1 shot of basal, and 3 of bolus per day, which you then stretched to 1 shot of basal, 3 shots of bolus, and 6 corrections per day. Were you eating low carb, low fat, and high protein? I know Bernstein recommends injecting regular insulin to cover protein as the profile is offered as a better fit. When I asked my Consultant for a prescription of regular he said no. (If I lived in the USA I would have bought some myself for my own experiments), for now I continue with Levemir and humalog.
How did you modify your dosage and way of eating after the wobbly experiments with very low carb?

No idea how diet would be described, it was low carb under 50g thinking back, it was 12 years ago or thereabouts, going thru bad stage with diabetes so thought give diet a try. Eggs red meat fish were main sources for protein fat, rest of plate made up by veg.

Found 3 hours after eating bg would start to climb so correction to halt it, during night was pain, always waking up with higher levels than before bed, can only assume due to delayed digestion. Stuck with it for 3 months then give up, wasn't for me and soon got fed up with thinking about food, craving it & limitations, skin was beginning to resemble pin cushion with constant injecting.

Been using insulin pump for 7 years so can dribble doses over long periods for complicated meals, still don't get it right & find bbq's so difficult but worth it.

Don't eat low or high carb now, average meal about 50g 60g, can be lower even higher. The ironic thing is, using less insulin now than ever did, combination of eating health plenty of exercise, bought cross trainer while back & on that most days.

I have just read a book that was called The Diet Myth by Tim Spector. He through his work and research into gut microbes , suggests the differnce people have to food is down to gut microbes. I have read a few books on gut microbes and they all seem to be point in that direction.
