I've geen diabetic for ten years now and I'm STILL struggling to sort my bloodsugar's out! I feel like the care for people with diabetes is quite poor, my prescriptions are always getting messed up, my hospital appointments get moved about and even though I asked last time if I could have them every couple of months to try and help me out, they moved it....again.... I finally did a Carb counting group session (yay finally!) But so far it hasn't made much of a difference....would help if I could get a hospital appointment to sort out my insulin!!! Rant over. Hope I can get something out of reading other people's stories and experiences 🙂

Hi Rachlou, just spotted your post and I'm sure another type 1 will be along to chat with you. Not much I can say as I am type 2, however I do agree with you it is rubbish and some days I feel totally fed up with it.

Hi Rachlou

Sorry to hear you are struggling, and it can be very frustrating when appointments move, prescriptions get bungled etc.

Good to hear you have started carb counting - this should help you improve your levels once you have got your head around it and worked out insulin:carb ratios, correction factors etc for various times of the day.

It might help others make suggestions f you can tell us a bit more about how you are managing your diabetes. Which insulin(s) you are on. What your last HbA1c result was, what your range of levels are generally like. No one will judge you if you have results higher or lower than you'd like (or both!) - don't think of them as 'bad' results, just information to help you make some positive changes and move forward. (which is, of course, easier said than done!) :D

Hi rachlou, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear that you have been struggling with things :( What insulin regime are you on? Do you have particular times of the day when you have problems? I think that many of us can relate to having problems with our prescriptions, they are a frequent source of frustration amongst our members here so there are often threads popping up about them!

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We have members with all sorts of knowledge and experience so hopefully we can help you to get some good blood sugar control! 🙂

Hi Rachlou.

I hope you can fill in some of the gaps from here. NHS care is very patchy. If you're in England, you can possibly find a better clinic if you don't mind travelling.

Rob
