Hi all. So I have PCOS, and generally do not have periods however after a two year absence I find myself surprised to be having one.

Could the insulin I'm taking have had an effect to cause a period

And my blood sugars are up this morning, can periods affect blood sugars or would that have happened anyway

I don’t know @stackingcups but it’s certainly possible. Yes, periods can affect blood sugar. I usually go low for 2 or 3 days beforehand then shoot up high on Day 1 and stay there for Day 2 as well. I use my insulin as needed to deal with any sugars that are too high.

After a higher reading upon waking this morning, I just tested before lunch and had my lowest reading yet. And didn't feel like a shaking wreck like I did with the last lowest reading I had. Maybe theres just no rhyme or reason to it all.

Maybe watch to see if a similar thing happens the next time you have a period. I only realised what was happening with me after quite a while because I kept putting the lows and highs down to different things.
