The Big Fat Lies about Britain's obesity epidemic
We are all getting fatter. We know this because the Government tells us all the time, in every report, health warning and advertising campaign it issues. For the past 30 years we've been told to eat less and exercise more, to cut back on calories and on saturated fat and, on the whole, we're doing it.

More understanding is needed for children with Type 1 diabetes as there is no link to obesity
Doug Marr's concerns for Scotland's health (Comment, The Herald, January 29) are well-founded. They also reflect a consensus of opinion, which should make it a little easier to identify solutions, if not to put these in to practice. diabetes - the silent killer

AN overwhelming majority of people in Paisley do not know the early signs of diabetes. A whopping 56 per cent of Buddies aren't aware of the signs of the silent killer Type 2 diabetes, including increased thirstiness, tiredness, unexplained weight loss and blurred vision. Bangor woman in charity Everest challenge

A DIABETIC woman is aiming to scale the base camp of the world's highest mountain to raise money for charity. Laura Brown, 25, from Treborth in Bangor, has a target of ?3,550 and so far has raised ?2,844 through fundraisers and donations as she prepares for her trip to Mount Everest from Saturday to Monday, April 3-19.
