Diabetes in Scotland

Absolutely. Wonder how this compares with England......? (am English actually, but spend time in Scot)

"For people with type 1 diabetes, approximately 25% have an HbA1c of 7.5% or under whereas about 44% have an HbA1c value of over 9%."

This statistic blew me away. Absolutely shocking. NHS need to get their finger out.

I think I'm very lucky where I am - my PCT is very pro-pump & is basically offering pumps to everyone. I suspect they are the "guinea pig" to see if it proves to be cost effective.

Emma thats very true its a shocking statement

Interesting read.................that statistic doesnt shock me though.........some people like me have to commit fully to testing and eating right to even get near 7.5%, and we all know keeping up that effort consistantly for long periods of time is hard as well.......

I would love to see them offer a more relaxed attitude to pumps in scotland, or at least where I stay........
