The Gibraltar Diabetic Association was re-launched Thursday night as Diabetes Gibraltar to a large audience of people affected by diabetes including Edwin Reyes Minister for Culture and Yvette Del Agua Minister for Health.
The Committee expressed their delight at seeing so many people there supporting the event and enjoying the varied and interesting programme. There was a Diabetes Timeline display showing key dates in the history of diabetes research and treatments, from sugar tasting in the 19th century, through to Banting?s discovery of insulin in the 1920?s, to modern day innovations like insulin pens, pumps and islet cell transplants.
