Relationship to Diabetes

There is a meeting of the NHS local Commissioning Group this evening to seek information about improving access to education for diabetics. I have got a place and am taking hubbie as I believe they are often left out of the education process. It was only when he attended a dietary info appt with me and was asked what his fears were he said that he was afraid of finding me in a coma - but he had never mentioned it to me. From then on he always carries glucose tablets and gel with him.
Any thoughts from anyone about things to bring up? Don't know what format the 2 hour meet will take but it is under the auspices of Diabetes UK.
 
Meeting up-date. Unfortunately the total number of diabetics at the meeting was just one - me!! Speakers from Diabetes UK, North and east Kent commissioning group, Maidstone and West Kent commissioning group and GP rep on West Kent Commissioning Group. Funding is available from NHS to investigate reasons for low take up in education courses and how to overcome this. Problems in people attending regularly or put off by the phrase structured education emerged as well as discussion about how to get info in first place.
I felt I took up as much time as speakers in pointing out all the bad practices I have had to put up with. Was told by the GP that as soon as any form of neuropathy had been diagnosed I should have been referred to hospital - however the system is all about to change with fewer hospital referrals and the setting up of c 7 hubs for all services including education so that it is easier for people to attend. I am hoping there will be a report which I will share with you all as we managed to fill up 7-8 very large flip sheets with ideas.
