A DIABETES charity boss visited Derriford Hospital to observe staff's leading work in the field.

Richard Lane OBE, President of Diabetes UK, spoke to Plymouth health professionals about living with Type 1 diabetes his role.

Professor Jon Pinkney, Derriford professor of medicine, said: "The adult diabetes service was very pleased to welcome Richard Lane. The adult diabetes service serves in excess of 10,000 people with diabetes and provides multidisciplinary care and specialist clinics every week both at Derriford Hospital and in the community. The service is proactive, integrating with primary care and providing support and care near to the patients' home."

Well at least Derriford have a high opinion of their diabetes care, not many of the patients would agree.

They actually have a very large notice in the waiting room that says due to health and safety no food is to be consumed in the waiting area.
They even have a consultant who when she gets her knickers in a twist (proved wrong) throws paper work across her desk at patients. 😱
