A DIABETES charity has expressed concern after the majority of people who attended a roadshow in Romford were found to be at risk of type 2 diabetes.

Fifty out of the 86 people who visited Diabetes UK’s ’Know Your Risk’ roadshow, delivered in partnership with Tesco, were seen to be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes and were referred to their GP surgery for further tests.

Roz Rosenblatt, Diabetes UK head for London, said: “We are very concerned that so many people in Romford are at risk of type 2 diabetes.

You would have puzzled them with your diabetic weirdness! 😱 🙂

I puzzle myself sometimes!!! I do ask the question "why cant a be normal sometimes?". But then think "nah" I like being different!!!

Different is good! But i know what you mean about being 'normal'. I put out the flags on the odd occasions i'm told something about me is normal:D

Im normal on the Bristol scale!!! 😱😉

Yes, but that's one of the things that those roadshows are for. People who have their own suspicions are more likely to ask to be checked, hence the high proportion of people at risk

The report states that the 86 people who were checked were visitors, who presumably had some sort of interest or concern about their health & susceptibility to diabetes
If You surveyed a completely random group from the general public, there would probably be a lower proportion of people at risk

True, when I suspected something was up, I was gearing myself up to make a GP appointment ( and hoping whatever it was that was making me feel so s**t would go away by itself, as you do) A health check caravan appeared in the carpark of our local Sainsburys, so on the spur of the moment, I popped in. My finger prick test was 15. something, and the meter said 'check ketones' (the lady doing the tests hadn't a clue what to do because she'd never had it come up before!) Needless to say, I was in the doctor's the next morning!
