Campaign by Diabetes UK:

Take action on behalf of millions of people with diabetes in England.

Last year approximately ?10 billion of the NHS budget was spent on diabetes. Yet people with diabetes are still not receiving all the care they need. 80% of this NHS spending is going in to managing expensive and heart breaking but potentially preventable complications. Each year diabetes results in around 24,000 excess deaths.

The good news is that there is a solution which is not about having more money, but simply using what is there and making it work better.

There has been a National Service Framework for diabetes for 11 years but it has only been patchily implemented. We are calling for the delivery of a national implementation plan for diabetes that recognises and addresses the seriousness of diabetes and what needs to be done and makes sure it happens
