For the first time in a long time I think that I am suffering from diabetes burn out - doing an injection seems to take so much effort when before I would do it automatically - and my tummy injection sites are more sore than nromal - and I'm only testing my BG c. 6 times a day - which isn't as much as I need to with the gastroparesis.

Sorry to hear that :(

Not sure what to say except 'Hang in there'. Keep on keeping on and try noty to beat yourself up about needing to back off for a short while. As long as you are still taking your insulin and keeping some track of things every day you should be able to give yourself some time to take a breath.

Always pushing for the very best results is very draining. Hopefully you'll feel able to gradually bring things back into focus in the next few weeks, but be kind to yourself in the meantime.

You have such a lot to put up with Amanda on top of the "normal" issues you have this horrible gastroparesis which must be an absolute nightmare. It is horrible when you get to the point of feeling so overwhelmed by it all but it's hardly surprising that most of us do from time to time. I often think it would be so nice if we could have a "holiday" from the D. So often you hear people say something like "I'm getting away from it all - I'm going away for a bit" We don't have that luxury and that is what gets me down most of all. It's always there, there's no let up. You have overcome so many obstacles and dealt with such awful things that I am confident you will find the resources to get back on track. I don't know what to say about the sore injection sites, is there a possibility that you have a bad batch of needles? Sometimes though, when we are generally down our whole body responds and just becomes rebellious. I have a rebellious body!! Hope things improve and in the meantime, you know where we all are.xx

I want to give you a great big hug and get a good fairy to make it all better. Even with just the diabetes to contend with it's not much fun. I hope you feel better soon.

I second what Caroline said! 🙂 Try & be kind to yourself - you've had a really challenging few weeks, house move not happening etc as well as the usual medical stuff to deal with...don't beat yourself up for not feeling enthusiastic, I don't think I would be either! (((((hug))))) Hope you're feeling better about things soon. xxx

I know the feeling well AJ. Hugs from me too and don't go beating yourself up.

Thank you everyone for your lovely supportive messages. They really do help. I guess today was a typical day that contributes to the burnout - BG 9.5 at lunch had cheese and crackers (although it was rather a lot of cheese). Had three units of humalog. Only waited three hours until I tested again and it had gone up to 18 with the bloated gastroparesis tummy. I know that I have to test every two hours (or more) to keep on top of things - but it seems like so many tests. I need to make more use of my CGM but I hate having it continually with me. I will survive this burnout - it's just difficult at the moment.

sending you some supportive hugs.... sounds like you have a lot on your plate with the gastro thing on top of the diabetes

Thank you Medusa. The hugs are warmly received

Hi Amanda,

Sending lots of hugs and support too.

Rather than feeling bad you're finding things difficult now, how about turning it round and being proud of yourself for all the rest of the time you've being doing it so well? Just because you are feeling it at the moment, don't let it cloud how great you are!

I'm surprised you don't feel like this all the time! So congratulate yourself for that!

If the tests are getting boring, start a game with yourself or others around you to guess what it's going to be...and maybe put some prizes/forfeits in place to make it even more interesting!

Hope the cloud passes you over soon enough 🙂

Hi Katie Thank you🙂 I'd forgotten that when I got my HBA1C down to 7.3 the consultant said that it was the best he'd seen in someone with gastroparesis. You've reminded me that I can do this, thank you

Thank you Alan, I hope that I can improve my ability to be inspirational🙂
