Hi
My son has had diabetes for 13 years this year and will be 15 shortly. He has always enjoyed sports and has chosen what subjects he'd like to study for his GCSE's and one of them is sports.
He uses a pump for delivery of his insulin and since he's been using one his health has improved ten folds.
I'd like to know if any other parents have a child who chose sports and how they and their child delt with the vast amount of excersise.
Thanks Sian

Hi Cadi,

i don't have a child in your son's situation but I use a pump and do a lot of sport, as do lots of others on here so if we can help answer any questions we will!

There's a lot of information on the 'pumping' and 'sports/exercise pages' that might help you too.

Hi Dory,
Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look, new to the site so will have a good look around the site

Hi Cadi, welcome to the forum 🙂 Your son might be interested in the website http://www.runsweet.com/ - all about sport and diabetes and (I believe) started by the man who helped Sir Steve Redgrave after he was diagnosed to train for his gold medal in Sydney 🙂

Also, I would recommend getting a copy of the Diabetic Athlete's Handbook which has lots of useful information about different sports and how to deal with them when using insulin 🙂
